Precision Payload
Your rocket must carry one totally enclosed standard NAR payload to a target altitude of 150 m and target duration of 40 s.
Classic Model
Classic Model comprises a single event that emphasizes craftsmanship while remembering the historic legacy of model rocketry. The purpose of this competition is to produce a flying replica of a classic model rocket kit or published model rocket plan. The model must have been available for sale in kit form or published as a plan in a magazine or NAR Section newsletter prior to 1990 and the builder must provide documentation to support this. Models that are still in production can be entered in this event, including models that are reproductions of classic kits however, entries must be built and finished to represent a version of the model available for sale as a kit prior to 1990. The entry may be an up or down sized version of the original model.
S.W.A.R.M. Spot Landing
This is a special S.W.A.R.M. only competition! Launch 3 of your rockets simultaneously (in a swarm!) and have them land as close together as possible. The shortest distance from nosecone to nosecone to nosecone (in a triangle) is the winner.
A Streamer Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use streamer recovery.
A Altitude
Achieve the highest altitude by making 1 or 2 flights on A-engine rockets. The higher of the two flights will be your score.
The other three NRC events for 2022-2023 may also be flown and results will be submitted to the National Scoreboard. These events are:
A Payload
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on 1/4A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use streamer recovery.
A Boost Glider Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on A-engine boost glider rockets. Each rocket must recover as a glider.
1/4A Parachute Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on 1/4A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use parachute recovery.
B Eggloft Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on B-engine rockets carrying a large hen's egg and recovering it undamaged.
^SWARM does have altimeters available for use. A deposit is required and a small fee may be charged for rental.
Non-SWARM members in C and D divisions are asked to pay a $10 fee on the day of the competition.
