Chatham Rocketry Association
Chatham has a rich history of model rocketry. Current S.W.A.R.M. member Larry Broadbent has provided some insight into that history. Larry first started in model rocketry around 1965. When a little older, he flew some demo flights for one of his high school teachers in Merlin, Graham Smyth. Graham then flew model rockets with several future high school students at Tecumseh Secondary School in Chatham. In 1979, the Chatham Rocketry Association, which was affiliated with the Canadian Association of Rocketry, was formed. Several Tecumseh students were involved with CRA in the early 1980's, during which time some of their newsletters, Chatham Rocketry Association Publication (CRAP), were produced. The first newsletter was printed in 1983. Larry Broadbent has been generous enough to provide S.W.A.R.M. with copies of several of those newsletters.
