Predicted Duration
Predict (in seconds) the duration which your entry will achieve. The minimum allowable duration prediction is 30 s. You must record your duration prediction at the scorer's table prior to any flight. This event must be the first flight of the day for each competitor.
Predicted Altitude (with altimeter)^
Predict (in metres) the altitude to which your entry will be flown. The minimum allowable altitude prediction is 100 m. You must record your altitude prediction at the scorer's table prior to any flight. This event must be the second flight of the day for each competitor and must use a different rocket than the one used for Predicted Duration.
S.W.A.R.M. Spot Landing
This is a special S.W.A.R.M. only competition! Launch 3 of your rockets simultaneously (in a swarm!) and have them land as close together as possible. The shortest distance from nosecone to nosecone to nosecone (in a triangle) is the winner.
Precision Standard Payload (with altimeter)^
Launch any rocket carrying a standard NAR payload to an altitude of 150 m for a duration of 40 s.
B Payload Altitude (with altimeter)^
Achieve the highest altitude by making 1 or 2 flights on B-engine rockets carrying a standard NAR payload and an altimeter. The higher of the two flights will be your score.
1/2A Streamer Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on 1/2A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use streamer recovery.
1/2A Boost Glider Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on 1/2A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use boost glide recovery.
The other three NRC events for 2019-2020 may also be flown and results will be submitted to the National Scoreboard. These events are:
1/2A Helicopter Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on 1/2A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use helicopter recovery.
1/2A Altitude (w/altimeter)
Achieve the highest altitude on a single flight on a 1/2A-engine. Two flights may be attempted.
1/2A Parachute Duration
Achieve the highest combined flight time by making 2 flights on 1/2A-engine rockets. Each rocket must use parachute recovery.
^SWARM does have altimeters available for use. A deposit is required and a small fee may be charged for rental.
Non-SWARM members in C and D divisions are asked to pay a $10 fee on the day of the competition.
Competitors are encouraged to be NAR members, and must be to participate in the National Rocketry Competition (NRC). See ww.nar.org for information on joining. If you would like help joining the NAR, just come to the launch and a SWARM member will be pleased to help You will still be able to compete at this year's Harvest Classic.
