Students in grade 6/7 class at St. Vincent Catholic School built MPC X-2 Invader rockets (featuring Marvin the Martian!) with S.W.A.R.M. members Chris and Charlotte Halinaty. One morning was spent building and one morning on launching. The entire school population watched the launch of eight X-2's on A8-3 engines and one Alpha on an A8-3. The grade 6/7 class asked tons of questions after the launch and were interested in coming to a S.W.A.R.M. launch. (Photos by Ms. Clarke) |

Students at St. Clair Catholic District School Board's Summer Literacy Camp were treated to a model rocket launch. S.W.A.R.M. founder, Chris Halinaty, launched an Estes Generic E2X rocket and an Estes Lucky Seven while students and teachers looked on. Students also cut out, coloured, and assembled paper rockets that are launched by blowing through straws! This activity was very hands-on and only a little chaotic. Teachers, students, and friends all had a great time! See the Chatham Daily News article. |

S.W.A.R.M. president, Chris Halinaty, recently helped some local Girl Guides build and launch model rockets. Twenty Girl Guides (ages 9-11) built Estes Alpha III kits or Estes Generic kits. Nine Pathfinders (ages 12-14) built Estes Alpha kits. Although not all of the girls made it to the launch, those that did had a great time. Chris, Matt, and Larry helped every girl launch twice for an open spot landing competition, with prizes awarded to the girls with the nearest landers. The Guides earned a Rocketry Badge, designed by Charlotte Halinaty for their hard work.
